28th Kingswood Scout Group

February Report - Sun 24th Feb 2008

Back to the news page

This term has seen some big changes beginning to take place in the Group. Andy Collier has now been invested as a Leader with the 28th Ivory Cub Pack and will take over the role of Section Leader after the Easter Holiday break. We also have two new Adult Assistants for Cubs, Kat and Emily, who have been C R B checked and I know all three will be a great benefit to the Pack and the Group. Please give them your full support. Andy will, I am sure, be a great Section Leader, and I know the boys will enjoy his enthusiasm and new ideas. Andy is a perfect choice and with the help of Martin Hartley, the girls, Marie, and myself, (who will slightly step back but still help out) I see it being a smashing time to be in our Cub Pack.
Congratulations go to Rachel Ferrand who has finished her formal training and also attained a Green Field Nights away permit and Rachel Culverhouse who has received her 10 years service award. I know you would like me to thank them both for the commitment to our Group.
After Easter I will continue as Group Scout Leader, but hand over cubs to Andy Collier, I will miss leading Cubs, but the time is now right for a younger and more energetic person to take control and believe me Andy is that. I however will now concentrate on my role as Group Scout Leader. I can now do the job as it should be done, overseeing the correct running of the Group, and assisting the leaders, making sure that they receive the support they all deserve.
Next year is our Groups 100th Birthday and we are going to arrange some special events which will need planning and help will be needed. This cannot be done solely by leaders, so your help is requested. Please contact myself or John Culverhouse so that we may log your name for when the planning starts.
We are also looking for new members of our executive committee, so if you can help with either or both of these please let us know. If you know of anyone who would like to join our Scout Troop please let us know as we have places available. Scouts need to be 10 1/2years old. For Cub or Scout applications contact either the section leaders or this website with a phone No and we will contact you.
Thanks to Mary for organising a series of events, the most recent being the Beetle drive. You can see from the photos that we had a fun evening.
