Remembrance Parade - Fri 14th Nov 2008

Back to the news page

Our Group supported the Remembrance Parade and Service at Page Park on 9th November. Thanks to Scouts Alex and Joseph who laid our wreath at the Memorial. Cubs Alex and Elliot read quite complicated prayers in front of hundreds of people. They had not seen the texts beforehand and did extremely well. Many thanks to them and to all the Cubs, Scouts and Leaders who supported the event.
The Leaders have commented that they were dissapointed at the turnout particularly as the current military action is tending to give this event a higher profile. Remembrance day is a key date in our calendar and attendance supports the values of the Scout movement.
Following the main service, our group and the 85th marched to our memorial in Downend to remember scouts who died in battle and a wreath was laid. Please take a look at the photos.
The leaders then met up for lunch at Pucklechurch
