28th Kingswood Scout Group

Scout Leader is James Ferrand or known as Boomer in scouting with Assistants Sally Edwards and Dan Allen-Ross (Thumper). I have years of experience in Scouting starting from Beaver age and moving my way up. In that time I have attended 2 World Scout Jamborees, achieving bronze, silver and gold in Ten Tors, Explorer Belt and Queen Scout Award. I am looking forward to attending the 23rd World Scout Jamboree in August 2015 as part of the Jamboree Planning Team (JPT) being held in Japan.

Scouts meet on Mondays between 7.00-8.30pm at our HQ, but try to get outdoors as much as possible to practise scouting skills. The Scout programme is varied so that we cover lots of areas that will help grow each Scout into members of our global society.

Scouts are typically aged 10.5 to 14, at 14 they move up to Explorers which is District based.

The vision of Scouting is to be more youth led and since Scouts are the older group we tend to expect a bit more from them, giving them more responsibilities and allowing them to work things out for themselves and be involved in planning of programme, activities and events.
